Check the modem ALEOS operating system

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable between your modem and computer.

  2. Open a web browser and go to 192.168.13.31:9191

    TIP:

    Some modem configurations may have port 9191 disabled. If the link doesn’t work, try accessing the modem at https://192.168.13.31:9443. Note: Make sure your browser is using HTTPS. If the URL does not include the “s” in “https,” add it manually.

  3. Once the ACE Manager Login page appears, the ALEOS Version information should be displayed below the login prompt, as shown in the following screenshot:

Modem firmware version ALEOS Version 4.16 or newer generally avoids the PPP problems present in older operating systems. Semtec/Sierra Wireless releases new firmware regularly on their website. The most recent version of the ALEOS firmware that has been tested by Campbell Scientific is available on the Cellular Modems downloads page: www.campbellsci.com/downloads/cellular-modems .

To install the new OS file:

  1. Log into your RV50(X) modem.

  2. Click the Software and Firmware button at the top.

  3. Browse for the ALEOS Firmware file downloaded on your computer. You will know the file is correct if it has a .bin extension.

  4. Click the Update button.
