Email Profile Setup

Email profiles allow you to easily use the same To, Cc, and Bcc fields for multiple components. An email profile also specifies whether to use Email Relay or Traditional SMTP. For Traditional SMTP, the profile also identifies the SMTP Server, Username, Password, and From fields to be used. Once an email profile has been set up, you simply select the name of the desired profile in the Profile field of each component’s Email Setup dialog.

NOTE: If a project is set up in RTMC Pro to send emails for alarms and/or reports, the email profiles can be edited from RTMC Run-time. This is done from RTMC Run-time’s Edit | Email Profile menu item. Select Globally Change All to set all alarms and reports in the project to use a certain email profile. Select Edit Profiles to manually change individual profiles. Select Restore Defaults to go back to the default email profiles defined in the project file. Note that all email profile changes made in RTMC Run-time are temporary. They will not persist, once RTMC Run-time is closed and opened again.

Press the Add button to add a new profile. Select a profile in the list and press the Remove button to remove that profile. Select a profile, right-click, and select Rename Profile to change the name of a profile. Select a profile, right-click, and select Duplicate Profile to copy the profile settings into a new profile that can then be edited as needed.

To:  The email address to which the email will be sent. Multiple email addresses may be specified delimited by a space, comma or semi-colon.

To send a text rather than an email, most major carriers provide email to text message conversion. Use the format shown below to send a text message.

Carrier   Format
Sprint    phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
Verizon  phonenumber@vtext.com
T-Mobile  phonenumber@tmomail.net
AT&T  phonenumber@txt.att.net

Cc:  The email address to which a copy of the email will be sent. Multiple email addresses may be specified delimited by a space, comma or semi-colon.

Bcc:  The email address to which a blind copy of the email will be sent. Multiple email addresses may be specified delimited by a space, comma or semi-colon.

Email Relay: Use Campbell Scientific’s Email Relay service to send the email. This Email Relay service requires access to public internet and DNS.

Traditional SMTP: Send the email through a traditional SMTP server.

SMTP Server:  The SMTP server from which the email will be sent.

Username:  The username on the SMTP server.

Password:  The user's password on the SMTP server.

From:  The email address from which the email will be sent.

Send Test Email:  This button sends a test email to verify that the setup is correct. A dialog box will be displayed indicating whether the Send Test Email succeeded or failed. If the test failed, you will have the option to view a detailed SMTP log which may be helpful in determining the cause of the failure.
