ESD testing

The CRVW3 has been subjected to the Class Level 4 of two tests that are based upon the criteria of standards set by the International Electrotechnical Commission. The CRVW3 maintained its full functionality after being subjected to these tests. The tests are known as the electrical fast transient/burst immunity test (IEC 61000-4-4) and the surge immunity test (IEC 61000-4-5).

The electrical fast transient/burst immunity test is intended to demonstrate the immunity of electrical and electronic equipment when subjected to types of transient disturbances such as those originating from switching transients. At the Class Level 4, the power and earth terminals of the CRVW3 are subjected to 4000-volt bursts and the signal and control terminals are subjected to 2000 volt bursts.

The object of the surge immunity test is to evaluate the immunity of electrical and electronic equipment to unidirectional surges caused by over-voltages from switching and lightning transients. At the Class Level 4 of the test, the CRVW3 is subjected to line-to-line open circuit test voltages up to 2000 volts and line-to-ground open circuit test voltages up to 4000 volts.

NOTE:

These tests are not intended to test the capability of the CRVW3 or any other electronic devices to withstand primary lightning strikes.
