Use case: Value-added resellers (VARs)

Scenario

A Value-Added Reseller (VAR) manages CampbellCloud deployments for multiple end clients.

By using Multi-Organization Management, the reseller can:

  • Create a separate CampbellCloud organization for each client.

  • Remain the organization owner for all client organizations.

  • Maintain clear separation of:

    • Assets and stations

    • Users and security groups

    • Dashboards and data

Billing and subscriptions

The reseller, as organization owner, is responsible for:

  • Managing subscriptions

  • Being billed by their local Campbell Scientific office for active subscriptions

The reseller can then bill their clients using their existing billing mechanisms outside of CampbellCloud.

Controlled client access

As organization owner, the reseller can:

  • Decide which applications the each client can access.

  • Restrict access to sensitive applications, such as Subscriptions, preventing clients from directly managing billing

  • Provide clients with access only to the applications required for monitoring and data analysis

This approach allows VARs to efficiently scale their CampbellCloud offerings while maintaining control, simplifying billing, and ensuring clean separation between client environments.
